Colbert Michael Hamels… married Heidi Strobel (Dec. 31, 2006); has three children: two sons, Caleb Michael (Oct. 9, 2009) and Braxton Grady (Oct. 24, 2011), and one daughter, Reeve Kenean (July 9, 2012)…is a 2002 graduate of Rancho Bernardo High School in San Diego, CA where he starred in baseball…did not pitch in his junior year due to a broken humerus bone in his left arm…was signed for the Phillies by Darrell Connor after being the 17th overall player selected in the country in the 2002 First Year Player Draft.

Selected Rangers 2016 Pitcher of the Year by the DFW chapter of the BBWAA in his 1st full season with the club, posting his 8th 200-inning season and 5th 200-strikeout campaign in anchoring the Texas rotation…landed 4th career All-Star selection (4th in A.L. player voting for starting pitchers), 1st since 2012…went 15-5 with a 3.32 ERA (74 ER/200.2 IP) in 32 games/starts…ranked among A.L. leaders in win pct. Allowed 3 ER or fewer in each of his last 23 starts, the first Phillies pitcher to do so since Chris Short went 26 straight (1967-68)...
